TFO Flyrods and Members in Pulaski NY

Several Hunt Doctor Members went to Pulaski NY on a Salmon River fishing adventure.  They stayed at Fox Hollow Salmon River Lodge and tested some TFO Fly rods.  All the folks had a fantastic time and this is what they found:

This is a review of temple fork fly rods while salmon fishing in Pulaski NY. We field tested the 7.5ft. 8wt TiCrX rod first and it performed great. “Fish loudly and carry a compact rod.”  I hooked and landed several fish but the best experience with the 7.5ft. 8wt. was a nice size salmon that took me down stream at the staircase well over 100yds. I had the rod almost bent in half initially in our main pool before the salmon took me down stream. The TiCrX handled as well as any other salmon rod I have fished with and I’ve fished with Orvis, Loomis, Sage, St. Croix, Cabela’s etc. What I  liked most about the 7.5 8wt. was it casted like a 9 – 10 ft. rod but was small enough to fish the over hanging branches of pools like Orwell. I fought the fish well over a hundred yards downstream for approximately  10 minutes. My buddy Barry landed the fish and we took several pictures before letting the fish back. Thanks TFO for coming out with a compact salmon rod. It is just what we need for tight spots.

We also fished the TiCrx 9ft. 10wt. WOW! Casted like a cannon and handled like a fine tuned machine. I fought several fish with it as well but the best fight with the 9ft. 10wt. TiCrx belonged to AnDrew ,my son, who is ten. He had the rod looking like a spring-loaded pretzel pulling back like he was battling an albacore tuna or a sailfish. My brother Billy or I held him by the wader straps as he fought the salmon downstream. By the way, this was Drew’s third year going up and he out fished all the adults. If you guys at TFO need a full-time field tester he has hinted at quitting school and starting a guide service with me, Billy Prebola, Barry Bernstien, Stan Lobitz, and his uncles. If , on the other hand he puts half the effort into his studies and sports, as he does into the outdoors, he may be one of your designing engineers in the future.

Both rods handled as well and any high end fly rods and the are very economical. Thanks guys for putting together quality rods at very affordable prices. We did get a short video of  AnDrew and I battling fish, thanks to Shareena, Barry’s new bride. We would have had more video, but due to the rainy weather we were a little limited. Barry and Shareena were married the Saturday before we went fishing. The honeymoon consisted of  ten boys and a lady. We couldn’t have asked for a better time. Shareena makes an awesome chili, and I am not that fond of chili. We stayed at Fox Hollow, and thanks to Roger, our host, had ,by far, the best accommodations in all the 24yrs. some of us have been fishing in Pulaski. By the way, Roger is quite the cook too. We had Prime Rib Saturday evening, and had to dodge pouring rain to get it back to our cabins. It was well worth the rain dodging. Well, as always, my reviews get a little story wordy but thanks again TFO for putting together great rods for beginners to experts. Barry and Shareena also fished the 7.5ft. 8wt. and Barry is by far the fly fishing expert in the group, and he owns a TFO to go with his collection of several other rods. FISH ON! and landed with TFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
